Bazeta is a venue: deals are made between people, not with us. We verify e-mails, check listings, rate-limit suspicious behaviour and act on reports, but the best protection is a few simple habits. This guide covers buying, selling, renting, jobs, dating and the local services.
Meeting in person
- Choose a busy public place in daylight — a café, a shopping centre, a bank lobby, a police station car park. Many police stations offer safe exchange zones.
- Tell someone where you are going, or bring a friend for expensive items.
- Let the other side come to you if you sell; go to the seller only for large items and never alone at night.
- Inspect the item thoroughly before paying. Switch electronics on, check serial numbers, test-drive vehicles.
- Trust your instinct: if the meeting point changes at the last minute to somewhere isolated, walk away.
Paying and getting paid
- Cash on exchange is the safest for private deals. Count money in front of the other person; for large sums meet at a bank.
- Never pay in advance — no deposits, no "shipping", "insurance" or "customs" fees to someone you have not met. Genuine sellers do not ask for it.
- No gift cards, crypto or money-transfer services for payments to strangers — these cannot be reversed.
- If you must ship, use a courier with tracking and payment on delivery from a company you looked up yourself, not from a link in a message.
- Be wary of overpayment: a "buyer" sends a fake payment screenshot for more than the price and asks you to refund the difference.
- Bazeta never handles money between users of classifieds. Anyone claiming to be a "Bazeta escrow", "Bazeta delivery" or "Bazeta payment service" is a scammer.
Chat and links
- Keep the conversation in the Bazeta chat until you agree to meet. It is logged and lets us act on reports.
- Do not click links sent by strangers, and never enter your password, card details or codes on a page you reached through a chat link.
- We never send verification codes by chat and never ask for your password. Our e-mails come from our domain, bazeta.com.
- Sellers asking to move immediately to another messenger, or sending a link to "verify your account", are a red flag.
Renting a home
- View the property in person, or via a live video call at the very least. Photos can be copied from other ads.
- Verify that the person can rent it out: ask for ID and proof of ownership or a management contract.
- Sign a written contract before paying a deposit. Get a receipt for every payment.
- A price far below the market for the area and pressure to pay "to hold it" are the two classic signs of a rental scam.
Buying a vehicle
- Check the registration document and the seller's ID; the names should match.
- Compare the VIN on the document, the windscreen and the body.
- Order an independent history check and, for expensive cars, an inspection at a garage.
- Test drive it. Never buy a car you have not seen.
- Pay at a bank or by verified transfer when the documents are in your hands.
Jobs and resumes
- Employers never ask candidates to pay for training, equipment, visas or "processing". If they do, it is a scam.
- Do not send passport scans, bank details or ID numbers before a real interview and a signed contract.
- Be careful with "work from home, earn thousands, no experience" — especially when the "job" involves receiving and forwarding money or parcels.
- Listings from partner job feeds link to the employer's own site; apply there and check the company independently.
Dating
- Talk by video before meeting. Meet in public, keep the first date short, arrange your own transport.
- Never send money, gifts or account details to someone you met online — no matter the story.
- Read the full dating safety guidelines; the Dating section is for adults only.
Taxi, food delivery and shops
- Check the driver's name, vehicle and plate shown in the app before getting in; share the trip link with a friend.
- Pay the driver, restaurant or seller directly by the method chosen at checkout; Bazeta does not collect the money in the first version of these services.
- Use the order page for problems — the chat, the cancel button and the dispute form are there for a reason.
Reporting
Every listing, profile and message has a Report button. Choose a reason and describe what happened; three reports hide a listing automatically pending review. For fraud or threats, also contact your local police — we cooperate with law-enforcement requests. Urgent cases: contact us with the link.
