Connectivity Director I Viator
About Tripadvisor
The Tripadvisor Group connects people to experiences worth sharing, and aims to be the world’s most trusted source for travel and experiences. We leverage our brands, technology, and capabilities to connect our global audience with partners through rich content, travel guidance, and two-sided marketplaces for experiences, accommodations, restaurants, and other travel categories. The subsidiaries of Tripadvisor, Inc. (Nasdaq: TRIP), include a portfolio of travel brands and businesses, including Tripadvisor, Viator, and TheFork.
Tripadvisor is looking for a Connectivity Director to own the technical and commercial relationship between our platform and the reservation systems (restechs) our supplier partners rely on. This is a hands-on leadership role: you'll set the connectivity strategy, build C-suite relationships with restech partners, and roll up your sleeves alongside engineers when a hard integration problem needs solving.
You'll lead the team responsible for supplier and restech connectivity – the APIs, integration technologies, and configuration processes that let millions of travellers book experiences seamlessly. You'll work closely with Product, Engineering, and commercial teams to make sure our connectivity capability scales with the business.
Job Location: UK, offices in London and Oxford.
This role is a remote position in the United Kingdom. Occasional travel to company offices as necessary.
Key Responsibilities
•
Define and own the Connectivity strategy – a clear point of view on where supplier and restech integrations need to go, aligned to our broader technical direction (faster releases, better observability, simplification, AI driven efficiencies).
•
Build and maintain C-suite level relationships with restech and supplier partners, acting as the senior technical face of Tripadvisor in those conversations.
•
Stay genuinely hands-on: dig into API design, integration architecture, and connectivity issues directly, not just from a distance.
•
Lead, grow and mentor a team of tech leads and engineers – with experience building teams from scratch or reinvigorating existing ones globally.
•
Partner closely with Product to shape the connectivity roadmap; this is a product-oriented team and role.
•
Instigate change: bring new technologies and approaches to the team, and create space for technical creativity.
•
Own escalation and resolution of complex operational and connectivity issues, keeping transactions and integrations running smoothly at scale.
•
Oversee configuration, monitoring and testing of supplier integrations, and drive continuous improvement of the tools and processes behind them.
•
Respond quickly and positively as remit, priorities or team structure evolve.
About You
•
Deep, hands-on knowledge of APIs and restech integration technologies, and a genuine understanding of how connectivity platforms work end to end.
•
A proven track record of building senior (C-suite level) relationships with restech and supplier partners.
•
Experience building a technical or connectivity strategy and also getting hands-on to deliver against it.
•
Genuine hands-on technical experience
•
Comfortable working alongside Product as a true partner, ideally having done so before on a customer-facing site or app.
•
An inclusive, non-hierarchical leadership style
•
Energised by fast-moving environments and comfortable adapting quickly to changes in remit, priorities or structure.
•
Excellent communication and management skills, with the technical credibility to match.
•
Data/analytical mindset, ability to design and build relevant reports
Practicalities
•
This role is remote in the UK, ideally someone based in or around London
•
You'll want to build real relationships with the team, which means coming into the office from time to time.
•
Reports to the Senior Director, Destination Management.
Personal Qualities
•
Strategic Vision: A visionary thinker capable of translating complex technical challenges into clear, long-term strategic roadmaps.
•
Executive Presence: Exceptional ability to communicate and influence at the C-suite and executive levels, both internally and with external partners.
•
Adaptive Leadership: A resilient and inclusive leader, comfortable navigating and driving change in fast-paced, high-growth environments.
•
Collaborative Catalyst: A natural partner who excels at breaking down silos and fostering cross-functional alignment between Engineering, Product, and Commercial teams.
Skills and Experience Guide
•
Leadership Experience: 10+ years of experience in technical leadership, connectivity strategy, or product engineering, ideally within the travel technology or B2B SaaS space.
•
Relationship Management: Proven track record of building and managing high-stakes C-suite partnerships, including technical advocacy and commercial negotiation.
•
Technical Strategy: Demonstrated experience defining and delivering technical roadmaps, API strategies, and scaling connectivity platforms in high-traffic environments.
•
Integration Expertise: Deep knowledge of integration architecture, API design, and observability, with the credibility to engage hands-on with engineering teams.
•
Team Development: Proven ability to build, mentor, and lead high-performing global engineering and technical teams from the ground up or through significant transformation.
•
Strategic Execution: Analytical mindset with the ability to design and leverage data to drive technical decision-making and operational improvements.
What We Offer
