HOW you will contribute to the company as a Senior Software Engineer?
As a Senior Software Engineer at Pennylane, your squad is your primary focus. You will contribute to building reliable, scalable and user-focused products, while helping the engineers around you grow and raising the quality of our technical execution. You will:
– Understand and frame user and product problems, using your product knowledge to help your squad deliver simple, pragmatic and valuable solutions.
– Lead significant technical deliveries within your squad, from understanding the problem to designing, implementing, testing and operating the solution in production.
– Investigate and resolve complex production issues, using monitoring, observability and data analysis tools to identify root causes and prevent recurrence.
– Design and evolve robust solutions, identifying performance, scalability and reliability opportunities and turning them into pragmatic technical improvements.
– Bring strong expertise in at least one major part of our stack, while being able to join a new team and become autonomous on a high-impact initiative within a few weeks.
– Improve engineering practices across the organization, through high-quality code reviews, pair programming, documentation, RFCs and the adoption of AI-assisted development without compromising software quality.
– Act as a role model and a driver for other engineers, sharing knowledge, providing actionable feedback and helping the team continuously improve its technical skills and ways of working.
– Collaborate effectively with other teams when needed, proactively unblocking technical topics and clearly communicating progress, risks, decisions and results to the relevant stakeholders.
– Contribute to the Pennylane tech community, through technical content, onboarding, interviews, incident resolution, tech initiatives, meetups or other community-building activities.
You’re the right candidate if you…
– Have strong hands-on experience with Ruby on Rails and React (at least 7-8 years)
– Combine technical expertise with strong product and business understanding, enjoy solving complex problems and care deeply about your users.
– Are a collaborative team player, communicate clearly and take ownership of delivering reliable, pragmatic solutions.
– Like being challenged and solving complex problems (accounting is complex in Europe)
– Have strong communication skills and are capable of articulating your ideas clearly
