Account Manager

BLUE is a specialist global B2B communications consultancy for organisations operating in complex, high-value industries - such as maritime, marine leisure, energy and carbon markets. Since 2008, we've turned market expertise into influence and impact, helping clients lead conversations, shape markets and unlock growth.

Our credibility comes from deep immersion, not observation. We get close enough to our clients' businesses to understand what motivates them, and what keeps them awake at night, so we can operate as true consultants, not just a delivery team. It's why our clients stay, and why we've built long-term partnerships across some of the most complex, high-value industries there are.

The role

We're looking for an Account Manager to become the established day-to-day ‘go-to' for a portfolio of clients, trusted for the quality of your judgement as much as the quality of your delivery. You'll translate agreed strategy into sharp, on-brief tactical implementation, combine PR creativity with sector intelligence to spot the angles that matter, and mentor the Account Executives coming up behind you.

It's a role for someone who wants to be a genuine communications counsel to their clients, a ‘critical friend' who steers activity, not just executes it, while helping to shape BLUE's culture and the next generation of BLUE talent.

Tasks

Client & account management

• Become the trusted day-to-day contact for your clients, translating agreed strategy into sharp tactical delivery across multiple accounts

• Monitor delivery against KPIs, combining PR creativity with sector knowledge to spot news hooks and thought leadership angles

• Act as a ‘critical friend', leading client meetings and building relationships with journalists and industry influencers

Writing & content

• Produce client-ready first drafts, press releases, pitches, by-lined features, media briefs and speaker abstracts, with minimal input needed from senior colleagues

• Oversee client social media content across social media, keeping tone of voice on-brand for every client

Team & culture

• Mentor and develop Account Executives, helping them build their skills and realise their potential as PR professionals

• Delegate effectively, draft in senior support where needed, and manage upwards to keep every deadline on track

• Act as a custodian of BLUE's culture, setting the standard for those coming up behind you

Events & business growth

• Own the delivery of client events and webinars against agreed KPIs, from invitation lists and venue liaison to budgets and on-the-day delivery

• Spot commercial opportunities within your accounts and flag them to the senior team

• Contribute to new business pitches, proposals and brainstorms, and help build BLUE's own profile and network

Requirements

Essential

• Solid agency-side PR or communications experience, with a track record of managing client accounts day-to-day

• Excellent written and spoken English, with strict attention to grammar, tone and journalistic style

• Proven project management skills, the ability to juggle multiple accounts, prioritise, and manage deadlines (including upwards)

• Experience mentoring or line-managing junior team members

• Strong media relations skills, with existing relationships with journalists and industry influencers

• A commercial mindset, with the confidence to push back and manage client expectations against an agreed retainer

Desirable

• Experience in, or genuine curiosity about, the marine, renewable energy or wider sustainability sectors

• Experience managing client events or webinars

• Experience managing social media for corporate or B2B clients

Benefits

• Hybrid working, with a 4pm Friday finish encouraged

• Dog friendly offices

• A charity donation made in your name on your birthday and the day off

• Employee of the Quarter recognition

• Additional annual leave after 2 years

• New Business commission scheme

• Employee assistance scheme

• Two centrally located UK offices, fully stocked with food and drink

• Regular team socials, from dragon boat racing to scavenger hunts

• Perk Box access and discounts

• Salary sacrifice pension scheme

• ‘Work from anywhere’ policy (2 weeks, after 1 year of service)

• A genuine stake in a growing, purpose-led consultancy

• Opportunity for international travel and events

• Weekly T@3 for knowledge sharing

• Loyalty bonuses
