Are you moving to the Helsinki capital region or considering a move to Finland for work or family reasons? International House Helsinki’s (IHH) Newcomer Information Sessions provide practical information and guidance to help you prepare for your move and settle into life in Finland. The session is designed for international newcomers who are planning a relocation or have recently arrived in the Helsinki capital region. What will you learn? The session covers the key steps you need to take before and after arriving in Finland, together with practical information about everyday life in the Helsinki region. Topics include: Preparing for relocation to Finland Work-based immigration and settling in the region Public authority-related matters and registrations Housing and finding a home in the Helsinki capital region Public transport and getting around the city The Finnish healthcare system Daycare, early childhood education and schooling options The Finnish education system Support available for accompanying spouses and partners Programme The session features presentations from: International House Helsinki Helsinki-info The City of Helsinki’s Education Division The Spouse Program The presentations are followed by an open Q&A session where participants can ask general questions related to the session topics. Please note that individual or case-specific matters cannot be addressed during the event. Who is the session for? This session is intended for international newcomers who are moving to, or considering a move to, the Helsinki capital region for work or family reasons. Whether you are still planning your move or have recently arrived, the session provides useful information and practical guidance to help you start your life in Finland. Additional information The session is held in English and takes place online via Microsoft Teams. Participants who register for the event will receive the joining link by email before the session. Presentation materials will also be shared with all registered participants. Please note that topics related to job seeking and starting a business are not covered in this session. International House Helsinki organises separate information sessions focusing specifically on working life and employment-related matters.
