HOW you will contribute to the company as a Senior Software Engineer?
As a Senior Software Engineer at Pennylane, your squad is your primary focus . You will contribute to building reliable, scalable and user-focused products, while helping the engineers around you grow and raising the quality of our technical execution. You will:

• Understand and frame user and product problems , using your product knowledge to help your squad deliver simple, pragmatic and valuable solutions.

• Lead significant technical deliveries within your squad , from understanding the problem to designing, implementing, testing and operating the solution in production.

• Investigate and resolve complex production issues , using monitoring, observability and data analysis tools to identify root causes and prevent recurrence.

• Design and evolve robust solutions , identifying performance, scalability and reliability opportunities and turning them into pragmatic technical improvements.

• Bring strong expertise in at least one major part of our stack , while being able to join a new team and become autonomous on a high-impact initiative within a few weeks.

• Improve engineering practices across the organization , through high-quality code reviews, pair programming, documentation, RFCs and the adoption of AI-assisted development without compromising software quality.

• Act as a role model and a driver for other engineers , sharing knowledge, providing actionable feedback and helping the team continuously improve its technical skills and ways of working.

• Collaborate effectively with other teams when needed , proactively unblocking technical topics and clearly communicating progress, risks, decisions and results to the relevant stakeholders.

• Contribute to the Pennylane tech community , through technical content, onboarding, interviews, incident resolution, tech initiatives, meetups or other community-building activities.

🥇 You’re the right candidate if you…

• Have strong hands-on experience with Ruby on Rails and React (at least 7-8 years)

• Combine technical expertise with strong product and business understanding, enjoy solving complex problems and care deeply about your users.

• Are a collaborative team player, communicate clearly and take ownership of delivering reliable, pragmatic solutions.

• Like being challenged and solving complex problems (accounting is complex in Europe)

• Have strong communication skills and are capable of articulating your ideas clearly
