About Logos
Logos is a movement building a sovereign, people-owned technology stack. This role sits in the IFT Technical Services (IFT-TS) Distributed Systems Testing (DST) team, which primarily supports Logos and also supports other IFT projects.
The Logos technology stack includes Logos Blockchain, which provides advanced privacy for decentralised applications and social institutions; Logos Messaging, private peer-to-peer communication that resists surveillance and censorship; and Logos Storage, secure decentralised storage.
The role
IFT is looking for an experienced Distributed Systems Evaluation Engineer / DevOps Engineer to join the DST team. The engineer designs and executes evaluation strategies using large-scale lab deployments and protocol behavior modeling scripts, analyzes distributed systems, automates test scenarios, and turns insights into system behavior improvements. The role works cross-functionally on troubleshooting and translates technical data into recommendations.
Key responsibilities
• Design, configure, and optimize Kubernetes clusters for large-scale experiments and benchmarks of peer-to-peer technologies.
• Improve cluster scalability and resource utilization.
• Set up, maintain, and optimize monitoring, logging, and observability stacks (Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, etc.).
• Collaborate with DST researchers and engineers on experimentation workflows and reproducible analysis.
• Automate infrastructure and deployment workflows.
• Troubleshoot, profile, and tune distributed workloads for accurate, performant benchmarking.
• Identify, reproduce, and debug complex issues together with Logos development teams.
Ideally you will have
• Strong experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration in production or research settings.
• Hands-on experience with libp2p and gossipsub.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure, Linux, and networking in distributed and peer-to-peer systems.
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools (Grafana, Prometheus, VictoriaLogs, etc.).
• Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible, Helm, etc.).
• Proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language, ideally Python.
• Interest or experience in distributed systems, peer-to-peer networks, and blockchain.
• Experience with networks and systems programming.
• Excellent written and conversational communication skills.
• Alignment with IFT’s core values and principles.
Bonus points
• Experience with Logos collective projects.
• Experience with performance benchmarking, scalability testing, or systems research.
• Open source contributions.
• Experience working in an open-source organization.
Interview process
The interview process includes conversations with the POps team and a DST team member, a pair programming session and discussion, and a conversation with the IFT-TS team lead.
