About the role
Circle is hiring its first Creative Director. This is a unique opportunity to shape how Circle shows up in the world and define the story of a company building the future of digital businesses. You will act as a creative extension of the founders, turning their ideas, product strategy, and company vision into narratives that are clear, memorable, and unmistakably Circle. You will work closely with the in house design studio, product marketing, paid media, video, and events teams. This is a full time, fully remote role, based anywhere, with annual cash compensation of US$171,000 plus equity.
What you will do
• Shape Circle’s narrative with the founders, sharpening the story behind the long term vision and translating it into narratives that travel across everything Circle does.
• Own the creative direction of the biggest launches and campaigns, finding the angle, developing the brief, shaping the story, and partnering with Product Marketing across launches, announcements, demos, and enablement.
• Partner deeply with the design studio, led by one of Circle’s co-founders, and occasionally lead external agencies, writing high stakes copy such as headlines, manifestos, launch scripts, and stage lines when needed.
• Raise the bar on advertising and creative campaigns, developing concepts and narratives with the Paid Acquisition team so creative is worth paying to distribute.
• Direct how stories come to life across video and events, with hands on input on scripts, structure, pacing, and narrative for launch films, social content, ads, virtual summits, and other major moments.
• Influence the narrative behind brand experiences at webinars, virtual summits, conferences, and live events, from theme and programming to booth, talks, slides, and copy.
• Turn partnerships into stories, working with the Partnerships team to develop the concept, framing, name, narrative, and creative execution behind major collaborations.
What you will bring
• A body of work you are genuinely proud of, with the ability to walk through the problem, idea, choices, personal contribution, and result for each piece.
• Exceptional creative taste and judgment, with the conviction to push work until it is great and to recognize when an idea is off brand.
• Exceptional storytelling and writing, with the ability to find a simple, compelling story inside something complicated and to obsess over language until it feels inevitable.
• A strong point of view, with the ability to challenge a brief, elevate ideas from the team and founders, and make a compelling case for a different direction.
• Real fluency in video as a creative medium, understanding script, opening seconds, structure, pacing, emotion, and payoff, without needing to shoot, edit, animate, or produce.
• Experience making creative that has to perform, learning from results and partnering with paid acquisition teams without letting performance marketing become boring.
• The ability to lead through influence, not hierarchy, raising the creative bar across designers, marketers, writers, video producers, agencies, and founders who do not report to you.
• Outstanding written and verbal English, at CEFR C2 level or equivalent, suited to a global, remote, highly asynchronous team.
What Circle offers
• U.S. benchmarked compensation globally, equity with ongoing refresh grants, and 35 days of paid time off each year.
• A remote only team that comes together twice a year for company retreats in destinations around the world.
• Flexibility and autonomy, with a benefits package supporting health, wellbeing, and professional growth.
