We are hiring a Senior BAW Software Engineer on the Sales and Marketing Systems team at BCBST!
In this role, you will help lead the design, development, implementation, and ongoing support of a new platform that will replace a critical legacy solution supporting an insurance line of business. As a senior technical contributor, you will partner closely with an external implementation partner, architects, business stakeholders, and cross-functional delivery teams to build scalable enterprise workflow and decision-management solutions that support a significant portion of our membership. You will play a key role in establishing development standards, influencing solution architecture, mentoring team members, and helping the organization build long-term expertise in IBM workflow technologies as the team expands beyond its traditional Microsoft-based technology stack.
To be successful in this role, in addition to the core job requirements, you'll bring extensive hands-on experience developing and supporting enterprise workflow and business-rule solutions using IBM BAW/BPM and IBM ODM. You will be a strong candidate for this role if you have experience designing and implementing complex workflow components including processes, human services, coaches, dashboards, toolkits, reusable frameworks, and workflow orchestration capabilities; integrating enterprise applications through REST APIs, SOAP services, JMS/MQ messaging, and database technologies; and leading platform upgrades, migrations, and modernization initiatives. Strong experience with Java/J2EE, JavaScript, SQL, enterprise databases, production support, troubleshooting, performance optimization, and root cause analysis is highly valued. The ideal candidate will also bring experience with requirements gathering, technical estimation, architecture reviews, code reviews, mentoring developers, and providing technical leadership within Agile/Scrum delivery environments.
Strong candidates will have:
•
IBM BAW/BPM: 5+ years of hands-on experience designing, developing, enhancing, and supporting enterprise workflow solutions using IBM BPM 8.x and/or IBM BAW 20.x, 21.x, or 24.x.
•
IBM ODM: 3+ years of hands-on IBM Operational Decision Manager experience, including developing and integrating business-rule and decision-management solutions with enterprise workflows.
•
Workflow solution components: Extensive experience developing Business Process Definitions and Processes, Human Services, Client-Side Human Services, Coaches, Coach Views, dashboards, UCAs, Business Objects, toolkits, reusable components, and exception-handling frameworks.
•
Enterprise integrations: Strong experience integrating IBM BAW and ODM solutions with internal and external systems through REST APIs, SOAP web services, JMS/MQ messaging, databases, and stored procedures.
•
Supporting technologies: Proficiency with Java/J2EE, JavaScript, SQL, and enterprise database platforms, including SQL Server and DB2. Data modeling experience is also highly valued.
•
Modernization and operational support: Experience leading IBM BAW upgrades and migrations, supporting deployments across Development, QA, UAT, and Production, and performing troubleshooting, performance tuning, optimization, and root cause analysis.
•
Technical leadership and delivery: Experience with formal requirements gathering including BABOK good practices, architecture reviews, solution design, and technical estimation while establishing coding standards, conducting code reviews, mentoring developers, and collaborating with business, architecture, QA, and infrastructure teams in an Agile/Scrum environment.
Note:
• This is a remote, work-from-home position, but the final round of interviews will take place on-site in our Chattanooga, TN office.
